Qualifications

  • Rod graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown Law.

  • He came home to be a prosecutor at the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, where he worked for almost 15 years.

  • Rod spent 10 years in the Felony Gang and Drug divisions where he prosecuted and took to trial many serious crimes, including Murder, Attempted Murder, Drug Induced Homicide, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Drug Trafficking as well Streetgang Drug Conspiracies.

  • He served as the Chief of Felony and Felony Review in the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

  • He has been a defense attorney for five years, defending the rights of the accused. Rod's experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney will allow him to be a fair and impartial judge.

Endorsed by Law Enforcment

Rod's long track record of prosecuting the most violent crimes in Lake County and working with law enforcement earned him the endorsement of the largest FOP in Lake County, the Lake County Sheriff's Fraternal Order of Police. During his 15 years in the State's Attorney's Office, Rod worked with detectives, specialized narcotics trafficking taskforces as well as the DEA and FBI.

Highly Respected in Law

Rod was rated Highly Qualified by the Lake County Bar Association for his track record of having extensive trial experience on both sides - having been both a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney. In private practice, Rod has also represented victims of crime and civil litigants in law division, chancery, small claims and divorce matters.

Biography

Rod was raised in a working class home - he is the son of Polish immigrants, who worked in factories on Lake Michigan. His father was a diecaster for Johnson Motors and his mother worked the production line at Abbott Labs. Rod was the first in his family to go to college and law school, graduating from Notre Dame and Georgetown Law.

Rod is active in his community, coaching his son's baseball and basketball, teaching religious education at St. Mary of the Annunciation and coaching Mock Trial at Carmel Catholic High School. He and his wife Lisa live in Wauconda with their two children, Caitlin and Roddy.
